Once upon a time…

Our story begins 80 years ago when Fredrick William Turner opened his first general food store in Kingstanding, Birmingham.

As is with traditional family run firms, the next generation came into the business with Eric, Fredrick’s son, establishing the bacon side of the outfit in 1974. Initially operating from the back of the Kingstanding shop, Turners began to deliver bacon by van to local grocers and butchers.

Time to move up in the world

By 1976, success meant that the business had outgrown its small shop opened all those years ago by Fredrick. So the company was moved to its current premises in West Bromwich, where it remains to this day specialising in all things bacon.

From one generation to the next

Over time, and whilst overseen in recent years by Peter Turner, Fredrick’s grandson, the business has continued to grow. We now have an enviable reputation for producing some of the finest home smoked and dry cured bacon in the West Midlands. The quality and taste of our product has changed little since Fredrick’s day and continues to provide a traditional and quality alternative to the water and additive filled offerings in today’s supermarkets.
